The 2017 Jeep Cherokee is a midsize SUV that has room for five passengers. New this year to the Trailhawk, you can acquire a garage door opener, Nappa-leather heated front seats, Keyless Enter 'n Go, a power 8-way driver seat, a power liftgate, a heated steering wheel, a remote start system, and more! A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is found inside as standard, getting 184 horsepower and spinning out 171 lb-ft of torque. Keep in mind here however that a 3.2-liter V6 engine that can be enabled on most 2017 Jeep Cherokee versions, which produces 271-horsepower and sees 239 lb-ft of torque. Two-wheel (front wheels) drive or four-wheel drive (either engine) is obtainable on almost any version (the Trailhawk is only 4WD). A nine-speed automatic is standard on any Cherokee as well. Need to tow something? The V6 engine will tow to a 4,500-lbs towing capacity, plus there is an available towing package to accompany the Cherokee with. If four-wheel drive options are a priority for you, the 2017 Cherokee has got you covered with the Active Drive I, the Active Drive II, or the Jeep Active Drive Lock. A 2017 Cherokee with four-wheel drive and the 2.4-liter engine is rated by the EPA at 25 mpg combined (21 city/30 highway). The two-wheel drive V6 enters in strong at 24 mpg combined (21 city/29 highway).

The 2017 Jeep Cherokee appears on the horizon with a five count of models: the Trailhawk, Limited, Overland, Latitude, and the Sport. The Sport trim comes with Bluetooth and an auxiliary audio jack, sliding/reclining rear seats with seatbacks that fold 60/40, keyless entry, an SD card input, 17-inch wheels of steel, and more. The Trailhawk is ready for the road without pavement with its tow hooks, a heated steering wheel, hill ascent/descent control, a locking rear differential, a power liftgate, Keyless Enter 'n Go, a remote start system, and Jeep's 8.4-inch Uconnect system. The Latitude model is nicely outfitted with a rearview camera, lighter alloy wheels, LED interior lighting, automatic xenon headlights, roof rails, and fog-lights. The Limited model also has standard alloy wheels (but are 18-inch), and keyless entry/ignition. The Overland descends into the feature fray with a leather-wrapped instrument panel, a new Jeep steering wheel with Zebrano high-gloss wood trim, power on both front driver/passenger seats, vibrant sill plates on the doors, a standard Alpine premium audio system, Bluetooth, SiriusXM Traffic, standard memory driver's seat, Berber floor mats, standard Nappa leather seats with ventilated/heated front seats, Uconnect Access Advantage, and an Uconnect with 8.4-inch touchscreen display. There also exist 3 'Special Edition' models of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee: the 75th Anniversary Edition (built until December 31, 2016), the Altitude, and the High Altitude. The Cherokee Altitude contains a leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels, deep-tint sunscreen glass, a Gloss Black exterior roof rack, Gloss Black grille surrounds and fascia applique, and the Jeep and 4x4 badges. The Cherokee High Altitude also has Gloss Black 18-inch aluminum wheels. That's a pretty extensive list right there, and there is a lot more features involved with not quite enough room here to list them!

Conclusions

Standard issue are stability and traction control, front and rear-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and front knee airbags, and anti-lock disc brakes. The Uconnect Access feature can be equipped (by ordering the 8.4-inch touchscreen) to get crash notification automatic, on-demand roadside emergency assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, and remote door unlock. A standard rearview camera occurs on all except Sport, but it's available as a choice to add on. The Latitude model has the option to install the 'Safety/Convenience Group'. The Trailhawk, Limited, and the Overland models allow access to the 'Technology Group' with its automated parking system, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, a forward collision warning and mitigation system, automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warnings. The IIHS states that the 2017 Jeep Cherokee gets a 'Superior' score for its forward collision mitigation system (available). With 5 stars for total side-impact protection and 4 stars for total front-impact protection, the crossover style Cherokee acquires from the government an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars in their tests.
