  • Optional panoramic sunroof for an extra breeze

There are also some the same engine options available to you on both the Charger and Challenger. They are:

  • 5.7L HEMI V8 for added power
  • Supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8 for the SRT Hellcat models to deliver 707 hp

Dodge Charger vs Challenger: The Key Differences

Design

The most notable difference between the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger is that the Charger is a 4-door vehicle and the Challenger has 2 doors, so the former gives you and passengers more room. We know that there are differences in the configuration of sedans and coupes, but the interior of both will give you plenty of seating options including those optimized for performance or are smooth leather for extra comfort.

You’ll also notice that the Dodge Challenger still retains its original pony car design, similar to models like the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro. The Dodge Charger more so combines the look of a vintage car with a modern sedan. Either way, you’ll turn heads on roads around town or on busy highways like the NY Thruway and the Taconic Parkway.

Engines

Another way these 2 vehicles differ is in a couple of unique engines. Not found in the Challenger is a 6.4L HEMI V8 offered in select Dodge Charger models that's powered by SRT and can deliver 485 hp and 475 lb/ft of torque. However, the Challenger offers an exclusive power boost to the 6.2L HEMI V8 thanks to the new SRT Hellcat Redeye trim that produces 797 hp and 707 lb/ft of torque.

The Challenger also kicks the power up a slight notch compared to the Charger in the non-Hellcat engines. For the 3.6L Pentastar V6, the Charger delivers up to 300 hp & 264 lb/ft of torque and the Challenger increases that by 5 hp and 4 lb/ft of torque. For the 5.7L HEMI V8, the Charger produces up to 370 hp & 395 lb/ft of torque and the Challengers ups the ante by up to 5 hp and 15 lb/ft of torque.
