Do you remember the last movie you saw in a theater?  How about the last movie you saw at a drive in?  Most drive-in visitors can give great detail of the last movie they watched - and their entire adventure - for years to come. This is because going to a drive in is unlike most movie memories they have.  If you haven't been to a drive-in yet, do it!  Almost every state has drive-in movies during the spring and summer months. A quick online search will direct you to the nearest showing so you can plan your trip.

7 Great Drive-in Tips!

Check with the Drive-In. Call ahead to make sure the drive-in will be open and to check what movie(s) they will be showing.  Most drive-ins offer a double feature on Friday and Saturday night for one fee.  This fee applies regardless if you stay for both showings or if you only watch one.   When you call, ask about concession rules (be sure they allow you to bring your own).

Dinner or Snacks?  Before heading to the drive-in, consider stopping for burgers and fries from your favorite drive-n-dive restaurant AND/OR cut costs by bringing a cooler with drinks or additional snacks with you.  This is especially helpful if you are enjoying a double feature event.

Prepare to be Comfortable.  Just like traveling on a long trip, you may want to bring a blanket and pillow for added comfort.  While I'm sure your vehicle is perfectly comfortable- it doesn't hurt to have a little extra to snuggle up with (especially if you have kids with you!)

For the Little Ones.   Drive-ins are great for little ones because they aren't confined to the "room".  If your kids want to get up and move around, you can do that.  If your kids want to sit on top of your car, they can do that too.  Do you have infants or toddlers? Some parents opt to bring high chairs or playards for toddlers to enjoy the film.

Other "necessities".   Picture it:  You are sitting with your loved one trying to watch the movie and you had no idea how dirty your windshield was before.  Gosh that windshield is dirty! SMACK!  The bugs are out too!  - The quick fix for this is to toss a bottle of glass cleaner, paper towels (or newspaper), and a bottle of bug spray into your trunk before you leave.

Drive-in Rules. There are two important rules to the drive-in.  First, make sure you aren't running your battery down (have jumper cables handy).  Second, before you leave, hang your speaker back on the box.  The speakers are stronger than you think!

Safety!  Don't forget that everyone isn't going to remain in their vehicle.  Always.  Always drive slowly and with your windows down to remain alert to pedestrians.   Check for people sitting on the ground too!
